Indian Naval Ships visit Piraeus Port
As a part of the Indian Navy’s overseas deployment to Russia, Europe, Africa and the Gulf, two Indian warships, INS Delhi and Beas visited the port of Piraeus from 18 to 21 July 2009. The ships were part of the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command based at Mumbai and were headed by Rear Admiral SPS Cheema, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet.
Vice Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Fleet, also visited Greece during the visit of the ships. The Indian ships held a Passing Exercise with the Hellenic Navy during their visit.
A Reception was held on 20 July 2009 on board INS Delhi, which was attended by officers of the Hellenic Defence Services, government officials, diplomats and others.
