H.E. Mr. Amrit Lugun

Ambassador of India to the Hellenic Republic

Mr. Amrit Lugun assumed charge as Ambassador of India to the Hellenic Republic on 12th July 2020.

Ambassador Lugun began his career in the Indian Foreign Service in 1989. He has served in various capacities in Indian Missions abroad including Doha, Paris, Algiers, Manila. He has served as Ambassador of India to Yemen and Republic of Sudan with concurrent accreditation to Eritrea. He has also served in headquarters at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, handling Eurasia and Latin American Countries desks; Overseas Indian Affairs; Consular, Passport & Visa.

In the multilateral area, Ambassador Lugun has served as Director in the SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu. Prior to his assignment to the Hellenic Republic, he was Additional Secretary (Overseas Employments) & Protector General of Emigrants, a statutory post in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.

Ambassador Lugun has done post-graduation in Personnel Management and high-level studies on security. He speaks Hindi, Bengali, English, French and Gorkhali. He is married to Mrs. Asha Mamta Lugun and the couple has one son and one daughter.
